With vacations and trips our normal water and food intake gets easily disrupted. As does our activity level. So needing a normal amount of diapers can get disrupted just as equally. Whatever number of diapers you normally need, always bring about 20% more.  Or a minimum of 2 for really short trips. Yes, lugging around spare diapers you probably won't use is a pain in the rear, but running out is worse.

As for hotel stays, bagging and disposing your diapers is being extra nice but is also unneeded.  At a minimum, just make sure your used diaper is in a trash bag next to the undersized trash can and you'll be ok. Bagged and tied off if it's a messy diaper too

I went on a 4 day retreat through a veteran’s association. When I got to my room I immediately checked the bed for a mattress protector and looked like it had one. After the director introduced us to the do’s and don’ts I privately asked if beds were protected and that I was incontinent. She said they were and if necessary tell her or the staff if an accident occurred and they would handle it quickly and quietly. Unfortunately I did not take my extended wear diapers and the second morning I woke to a flooded bed. They did as promised and handled it. Thank God!

Speaking of mattress protectors. I have finally found a great one. After years of using the cheap vinyl ones that split without warning. Expensive ones that wear out way too soon. I found the best by far. It’s a PUL cover that has cooling technology. No more sweaty nights or crinkle. I bought one from Walmart and one from Target. They can be washed repeatedly and dried on low.

Be careful, some hotels will charge a hefty cleaning fee for a wet bed. Notifying the staff at or before checkin might not help avoid that fee, but getting a mattress protector added on will. Though plenty of hotels won't even bother with that. As such, I always bring 1 or 2 bed pads. I hav3 g99d washable ones, but disposable pads also work great for traveling.
