but also because people might feel uncomfortable.

this is what I imagine most normal folk's reaction would be and then there'd be awkwardness for both of us.  I imagine there'd be pretending like like they didn't see it, and then me trying to figure out if they did and ready myself to explain something about myself I would much rather keep private. There's too much stigma around having to wear diapers so aside from the few people in my life that do know + this group, I am Mission Impossible about it.  I don't want to think that people are going to be worried about me leaking on their furniture, or thinking I'm defective and pitying me, or having anxiety thinking that someone is grossed  out by it.  I guess that is probably the shame part that i worry about and internalize the crap out of because, who do you talk to about it?

  2. I use a lot of powder wherever is covered.  Legs, buttocks, everything that will sweat.  I also try to work it into the skin a little bit.  It won't keep me from sweating but can help to postpone feeling gross and drenched.

I fully agree re needing more colors.  Sterile medical white is boring.

How about some plaid like you'd see on some boxer shorts.  floral designs, wood grain. muscle cars....i've got ideas

I'm not sure my full feelings about it, but having some color or designs makes me feel a little less like this decrepit person with all these problems.

  4. The landing zones work well for me when my depth perception is wacked out.  I also like the tape guides for this reason.

I also like colors and designs.  more choices there would be nice.

I also think the "waddle cut" is great. I like how it makes a pocket around my anatomy so i don't have to worry how things are positioned. I have had leaks because I was too close to one side during a flood.

  5. I wasn't overly impressed by the things I tried but I've only tried a couple of  items.  I did like the designs on a few of them.  I will probably order to have some color choices here and there but I don't think the things I tried would be cost effective and enough to handle my typical days and nights.  I thought they were really great about shipping and billing. That's bonus points too.

i use a waterproof mattress pad that also is heated

The heated waterproof mattress pad sounds amazing.  Would probably feel great.  Due to my condition I constantly have knots of muscles and I frequently use heating pads to combat it.  That sounds awesome!

Getting over that can be hard but. at this point in my life i really dont care what others think of how i manage my incon. and dont feel any need to tell people that normally wouldn't see me in my underwear

Great attitude! and good rule of thumb.  Same here.

  8. Definitely see that point, but some of the landing zone diapers have been a huge help to me.  The Incontrol diapers are fantastic.  Yes, I still struggle with the bottom tape and comfort, but the features they have and capacity has allowed me to have more ease of use, and freedom to change when it's convenient.  I also have noticed I use fewer of them, and save money.

I'd like to point out that i don't work for them, I just really appreciate their products. 😁  I think it's awesome they sponsored this site.

I'm content managing with pads and or pullups. Full time pullups is about where I am but when I can I try to use regular underwear with pads. I'm not giving up easily.

There's probably something to be said for trying to stay dry, but there's no science behind it. If you're going to leak, you're going to leak.  For doctors or others in the community to say that you don't want to become reliant on diapers, and by wearing them it's somehow a detriment to your continence, I don't really think there's any proof to back up that conversation.  I use the bathroom when I can, but during the times when I can't, it's unavoidable.  I don't think there's any trick it.  Maybe I'm off...

it did almost completely eliminate my urges for about a month or two. But it also eliminated my sphincters ability to open up and let me pee.

So this is the fear I have.  I have those times when I cannot urinate without excessive force and I worry exactly about that.  Botox was not really that effective on other parts of my body so it may do nothing at all.  The problem for me is in the nerves.  Botox is supposed to paralyze the muscles that are malfunctioning.

I hope to talk to a doctor soon that will listen to me and educate me on it.  It may work on X number of patients, but my case may be different.  I just want the doctor to take those things into consideration before trying to sell me on a procedure.

I'd say IF you are experiencing very painful urges, then even a 30% pain reduction just might be enough for someone to still get it done, even though it likely won't eliminate this urges or get you out of diapers.

Yes, great point.  Pain reduction is a good reason.  The original goal was to stay dry, but reducing the spasm intensity would improve life too.  It's lost it's luster a bit considering the price tag on the surgery and that it's not the cure once presented.  I have also considered botox, but not sure that would work either.  I've done nerve blocks for pain from other things to no effect.

  12. Slomo: Cant thank you enough for taking the time to write this.  Especially since what you described about your symptoms sound quite similar to mine.  I was informed by a trusted neurologist recently, that this procedure wouldn't be very effective for me, but I still had this little bit of wonderment about it.

John, to your point: the Urologist that I saw (who also was to do the procedure) sold it as a miracle.  I would have been disappointed if I would have gotten it done at the time.

There is a lot of information on it in google searches but if I peel back a few layers and read into personal experiences of folks that have tried it, or even read some of the finer print it becomes less glamorous.  It can work amazingly well for certain candidates.  The pool gets much smaller when you start examining the symptoms vs effectiveness.  If the initial claim is 95% improvement, but due to someone's personal  conditions only derives a 30% improvement, is it still worth the effort? At that point would other treatments be similar in effectiveness?

some times what is in stock is more for the ABDL market than overlapping with the incontinent market.

I saw Tykables had tear away velcro cargo pants.  Those seem interesting as something that could be helpful for traveling and trying to change at a rest stop.  Other adaptive clothing I've seen in the doesn't fully come apart.

Happy to report the Super Dry kids is a fairly comfortable and functional diaper. definitely not scratching my hips with the tapes, so that's nice. I thought it seemed thin but it absorbs quite a bit.  I'm not big on the baby designs in general but these are not overwhelming.  They market them as being replicas of 80's pampers. They do look very similar. I'm a nostalgia fan so I can dig it.

Basically, if this type of diaper already works for you, then you can expect the same greatness. If it doesn't, then those ones won't either. Of course, there are minor variations. So some brands might work slightly more or less better, depending on your own body shape, type of incontinence you have, overall absorption, etc, etc.

Yeah, for sure.  maybe was also wondering what consensus is about quality or if there were any likes or dislikes about the ones I was trying.

Anyway I am excited to try some new stuff.  I'm having fun looking for new things to test out, see how they work for me.  I had been buying the same old bland stuff for so long that it was just another chore that i hated doing.

  15. I ordered some things to try from AB Universe.  Haven't tried them yet. Was wondering what some of the folks that are familiar with their products thought about how they stack up against InControl or some of the Tykables stuff.  I got the Peek ABU, and Super Dry Kids.  The Super Dry kids looked interesting because it has 2 tapes and would maybe not cut into my damn hip.  The Peek ABU is rated for 7500ml.  Do these live up to their price tag?

    Thanks in advance.

  16. What Slomo said, except I once recently had one that slightly wept through.  I don't trust it and I've just been procrastinating buying a vinyl sheet. That's probably what I need to do.  I don't like wearing all the extra plastic pants and such.  It's too hot.  I have trouble sleeping and controlling my body temp so all those layers are out, and mega diapers are in.  I also carefully monitor my fluid intake after a certain hour.

They look good (even though I’m the only one who sees them)

Yup! there's a different sense I get when I see myself in the skull print, or black megamax.  It just doesn't make me feel like I am this disabled guy wearing a medical device. It's obviously a diaper, it doesn't look like it's not, but it does feel like I own it and even have some style about it.  Idk... tough to explain maybe but I feel better about wearing it.

  18. Bedwetting was one of the first clues that something was wrong and that I would need to start wearing diapers.  I have found that I usually wet myself within the first 3 hours of falling asleep.  I still wake up after (sometimes) when my bladder is spasming and wetting myself.  I used to try to get up and partially use the bathroom but there's no point it seems, and the act of getting out of bed was painful and incredibly disruptive to sleep.  Sleep is crucial to managing my nerve disorder.  If I don't sleep well enough daytime wetting is far worse than it would be because the nerve and muscles weren't able to reset and heal properly.  don't know if I am "un-potty training" myself but I don't care at this point anymore.  I just want to sleep.  If I don't sleep pain is worse.

    Better safe than soggy…

Sounds like you've learned via experience. 🙂

I am fairly new with the super absorbent diapers but I am so far a fan.  My latest observation is that I was able to wear one diaper, with no booster, all night, and still wearing it while I enjoy some morning coffee.  I still feel relatively dry, and the front panel up by my belly button isn't saturated, and still bone dry at the top.  This is nice because in the past the need to change before a leak, or just being uncomfortable would drive me to get out of bed.

I don't know anywhere in the US or Canada where one can find talc powder now.  The generic brands went off the market before J&J pulled their brand.  From other comments, I know its still available in Australia and Europe.  I stocked up while the stores were selling out the stock on hand.  Don't know how long that's going to last me....Yes there are some folks with concerns about talc powder, however it is the legal system not the medical system in the US that has caused this disappearing act.

I believe have seen products other that corn starch for body powder.  I can't recall the base ingredient but a google search may come up with a few things that are good alternatives. probably more expensive but if getting away from corn starch is the goal, may be worth looking into.
