Valentinesstuff Posted February 20 Share Posted February 20 I forgot to update this one. Thanks to Adam at NorthShore, I was able to get the Pharmacist the info she needed. Now as soon as NorthShore sends them to the VA, and the VA sends them to me, I'll be getting some NorthShore diapers every month. At least until March next year, when the VA changes to some new system. On the other hand, my Senator is apparently going to bring this up somewhere, probably the Veterans Affairs Committee. Hus assistant seems to have dropped my requeat and hasn't done anything beyond an initial requeat to the VA. She got a brush-off from them and apparently hasn't tried again since. Though I was able to find the contact info for a VA inspector general at .1-800-488-8244. For reporting mishandling of information malepractices and lack of care. We had a nice chat about them loosing my service records and the pharmacy dictating what the doctor can and cannot provide to me. So hopefully that will go somewhere. It's like the VA is purposely trying to f##k with us. They send us something that's barely even servicable for what was requested. So we complain and try to get something beyter. Then they send us something even more useless. But not just send us something to test out, they send us dozens or even hundreds the very first time. It's such a massive waste in materials and cost, it wastes our time, and even tests out patience. Gods, I wish there was a better way to get throug to the VA, and make them understand whate we actually need. To be honest, whatever was supposed to be sent was an attempt to provide support for the cheap crap that they had sent me. Shortly after these were ordered, I got a prescription for MegaMax, which I got changed to MegaMax Lite. The really bad thing is that I can't even donate these, because there is no packaging and they are "underwear." If they were at least regular plastic pants, I could use them for extra odor control. Plus they have no or very little working knowledge of adult diapers and accessories. One of my sisters is a nurse and has worked exclusively in nursing homes and she is stuck using cheap diapers because of rules and regulations. Adam at NorthShore was or is trying to change that. Though my urologist specifically prescribing the Megamax, and my advocate complaint, probably helped the most. It seems the review approval committee was most concerned with their cost, and why I specifically needed Megamax. They had a few other questions too, and actually had the urology assistant call me. She was then relaying the info back to them in real time. It took some explaining that they can cost less due to far fewer changes. I told them to look at the monthly total cost, not the per-diaper cost. And also confirmed that yes, they will hold a full 2 liters. Actually 2600ml, but real world is less than lab tested. Which 2+ leters is what I need for my nocturnia. I'll get the first drop shipment pretty soon, and this should save me $200 a month! Which is great because my stock is starting to get low. And my only "problem" is I need about 60 diapers per month, but they want to send me 120. Once I've gotten them for a month or two I plan to go back to my urologist and put in a request for the additional boosters. And they made it out like cost was such a huge factor. I can see them giving me a few extas per month, but literally double? It makes no sense. Since I only need 60 per month I was fully expecting 2 cases, or 80 diapers. That would give me a few extras, but 120 IS overkill. Hence why I'm thinking I'll build up my stocks for a couple of months. After that I'll ask to switch over one of the cases to get boosters instead. Which I need to increase the Megamax's capacity for my overnight nocturnia. Either that, or just keep the overkill extra supplies. The pharmacy has already told me that once I get them, the VA doesn't care what I do with them. Even donating or selling them off. And a case of Megamax could easily sell on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace for $50 or even $100. Ebough for me to buy the boosters AND pocket a little extera spending cash. I could never do that to someone else. That's why when the VA sent me Depends and Attends I threw them right into the trash where they belong. I even saw the trash guy stop and look at them. He pulled out his phone for a minute (presumably to look up their worth), then even he tossed them into the trash truck. And you know they're worthless when there worthless to the trash guys. Where I live just opened a Hygiene Pantry, and one item they specifically asked for is Large Adult Diapers. I have a case of Tranquility and a package of some weird Molicare design. Neither are horrible, but neither fit my needs either. Very oddly in the VA Hospital Dayroom, I forget what they labeled it as but it functions as a barracks Dayroom, I saw sitting on a table a bunch of Adult Diapers. They'd be worth it if free, but I wouldn't buy one unleass it's an emergency. I've also noticed a trend of adult dayroom and daycare facilities. There mostly just places where older people can socialize and play games, but also talk to an aid if needed. And yeah, I'd bet that diapers are quite common in day facilities like them.
