  1. How do you guys/gals diaper up? Do you plan for the easiest diaper change or to stretch out the time between changes to the max? For me, an "easy" diaper change would be to wear only the diaper with no other layers on top (cloth pullups or plastic pants) that would make a change difficult. The idea is to avoid having to remove shoes and trousers in order to change. Of course, this choice runs the risk of a leaky diaper wetting outer clothing. I usually maximize the time between changes. To stretch out the time between changes I wear a premium tabbed diaper with a booster, a thin cloth pullup to catch leaks, and then plastic pants on top. I also wear a onesie to help support the diaper. This combination makes it very difficult for me to change without having to remove my shoes and trousers.🙁 Of course, some of you probably are more agile than I am. So, how do you optimize your diapering? --John

  2. I just registered yesterday on Daily Diapers. For me it's lonely with nobody to talk about my condition. I was born to be incontinent and why I started wearing diapers when I was a teenager. I'm 64 years old and about 15 years ago my wetting myself became more frequent, I didn't mind at first, and had to start using super absorbent with liners due to accidents. I travel for business and always had to change frequently, but I couldn't wear the super absorbent because I felt people would notice. I'm Bi-Polar and suffer from ADD, before I was diagnosed I self medicated. Many suffer incontinence because of an accident or disease. I use to be able to control my incontinence most of the time until about 15 years ago. I did see a urologist and given medication for OAB and urge. Provided temporary relief, but I couldn't handle the interaction with my Bi-Polar meds. The desire to become incontinent started early in life and then became an obsession which took over my life. My thoughts seriously considered having surgery outside of the country. I no longer have those dark thoughts because I found a urologist who let me try an indwelling catheter. Best day of my life and finally feel free. Using an indwelling catheter is to completely give up control. I'm a very successful business man with a secret I've never told anyone before even my wife. She just thinks I had bouts of incontinence that reached a point I needed an indwelling catheter. She has accepted it because she can see I'm so happy to be able to control my incontinence. My incontinence, I feel, is a mental disease because I couldn't stop thinking about it every second of everyday. I did eventually told my physiatrist and tried changing medications, but the desire remained. In the end he said if your happy that's the most important thing. I know this is a long introduction about myself, but I really needed to just let it out. I've been using an indwelling catheter for 5 years with no UTI's and will continue for the rest of my life. Does anyone out there feel they were meant to be incontinent? I didn't realize until much later in life and couldn't understand why. My mind was just wired that way.

  3. An indwelling catheter is a closed system and to reduce or not be subject to UTI's you always have to keep that in mind. I wear the collection bag for as long as possible because changing the bag can introduce bacteria. I clamp the catheter before removing the collection bag and then attach the new one. I don't use a night bag because that means every morning you need to change bags. I always wear a 1000ml bag which is sufficient for overnight use. There are several bags that size which are undetectable even wearing jeans and the bag is almost at capacity. Also when I drain the bag I leave enough urine to keep air out. The sphincter acts in the same way. The bag is just a bladder outside of your body.

  4. Good luck. You are fortunate to have gone 5 years with an indwelling catheter and no UTIs. --John

  5. Consider how recent diapers for men are now advertised and stocked in every pharmacy. When I started having bouts of incontinence 40 years ago I never mentioned it to anyone. I use to use baby diapers and did my best to accommodate. There are a lot of men who will not fess up and purchase products and hope the cashier thinks it's for someone else. I've never heard a man discuss incontinence unless related to their prostrate. I bet some men use that line to cover being incontinent. I've only discussed my situation with a few friends.

  6. I always wear diapers with a booster and a boxer brief to hold it all together. I try to keep it as long as possible without risking leaks.Generally, I change my diaper every 5 hours (it depends on the state).

  7. I use a quality diaper with a booster and plastic pants, usually with a onesie on top. I never considered using a pull up on top of my diaper. Do you think it really helps? Is the extra bulk a problem?

  8. Interesting how long Slomo and Iken are able to last without a change. I stay well hydrated and am a heavy wetter. I usually need to change at about 6 hours and rarely risk going longer than 7 ½ hours. However, on long car trips if I "diaper heavy" I usually can last for 12 hours. Otherwise my changing habits are similar to Scarth. --John

  10. For me, I wear a diaper with 4 boosters that I can make it last for the entire day unless I poop or leak in them. Normally for me, in the morning, I get up, take my diaper off, shower, then make my bed and then put my Megamax diaper with 4 boosters on. Have breakfast and then go about my day. Only time I change, is if I leak or take a poop in my diaper after 12 to 21 hours, I change again for night time and I get ready for bed.

  11. I guess I take an approach of both easy and time. I normally change in the morning about 1.5 hours after I get up. After I've done a little exercise and ate breakfast, and right after I normally take a shower. Then I change again about 14 hours later when I'm already undressing and getting ready for bed.
